Core structure and working principle:
Core component - bucket wheel: This is the most significant difference between it and traditional cutter suction dredgers. A huge rotating bucket wheel similar to a waterwheel or excavator wheel is installed at the bow or stern (usually the bow). Multiple sturdy buckets (buckets) are installed on this wheel.
Excavation process:
The bucket wheel is rotated by a powerful drive (usually hydraulic or electric).
The rotating bucket wheel cuts the bucket into the soil layer that needs to be dredged at the bottom of the water.
The bucket digs up materials such as mud, clay, gravel, etc.
When the bucket rotates to the top with the bucket wheel, the material in it is dumped into a fixed receiving hopper (chute) under the action of gravity.
Material transportation:
The material falls from the receiving hopper into the suction port of the mud pump.
The high-power centrifugal mud pump generates a strong suction force, mixing the material with water to form mud.
The mud is transported out through the mud discharge pipe.
The transportation destination can be:
Directly blown ashore: transported to the designated blown filling area (such as reclamation land) through floating pipes and shore pipes.
Discharge into mud barges: transported to the mud barge (mud transport ship) docked next to it, and then transported to the dumping area or blown filling area by the mud barge.
Discharge into deep water areas: (If environmental protection permits) discharge into designated deep water discharge areas through long-spacing pipes.
